SPRING / SUMMER 2021 CAMPAIGN

This is the second instalment in an ongoing campaign project dedicated to touch.

 

Lucie and Luke Meier invite photographers with whom they have previously collaborated with or feel connected to, to interpret the sentiments and values they are infusing into Jil Sander. Embarking with them on a journey led by intimacy, where distances are filled by trust.

The project was inaugurated last Fall by Anders Edström, Olivier Kervern, Chris Rhodes, Lina Scheynius, and Mario Sorrenti.

This new chapter is composed of Bibi Borthwick, Drew Jarrett, Shaniqwa Jarvis, and Nigel Shafran. They portrayed what Lucie and Luke Meier’s work and the garments they design suggest. As if they were characters in a conversation among friends.

They all created different atmospheres – photographing their subjects in the city, in their gardens, or in their ateliers.

The result is a constellation of images where every frame counterpoints the other, contributing to the whole.

As Lucie and Luke Meier remark, “What we like about this campaign-project is working collectively; with the authors, the protagonists of the pictures, and our team. Improvising around a given theme, as “touch”, “intimacy”, “friendship”, playing with individuals you feel akin to, you trust and understand. We are extremely happy that Shaniqwa, Nigel, Drew, and Bibi, together with Alek Wek, Vivien Solari, Saskia de Brauw, Lily McMenamy, Ottawa Kwami, Yuri Pleskun, and Leo Bhanji accepted our invitation and once again handed over to us the authorship of a work which is essentially choral.”

 

This ongoing collaborative project for Jil Sander will also be published into a book.
